On April 20th 2022, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun / The Foundation for Inspiration of Indonesia Development (YIIM) in collaboration with Meroke Tetap Jaya Company have organized training and provides knowledge about growing organic vegetables using hydroponic growing media. Meroke Tetap Jaya Company is a national private company engaged in the distribution and trading of fertilizers throughout Indonesia since 1953.
This event is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) program, especially SDGs Number 2 on Preventing hunger, SDGs Number 3 on Healthy and Prosperous Life and SDGs Number 17 on Partnerships to achieve goals.
This training was given to the academic community at the University of Bung Karno (UBK) which consisted of representatives of lecturers and students. The training was held at the UBK Hall on Kimia Street Number 20 Menteng, Central Jakarta. The training was organized under health protocols by using masks, washing hands and keeping a distance with a total of 15 participants.
This event is part of the YIIM and UBK collaboration that has been running since in the year of 2020. The Soekarno Education Foundation has provided scholarships for two of YIIM beneficiaries, namely Humam Hasan, an alumni of the Coffee Barista program (his profile is HERE) and Hermanto, an alumni of the Barberman program (his profile is here) to study Marketing Business Management of Bachelor Degree (S1) at UBK, when this program was run both of them were in the fourth semester.
The training was held from 09.30 am to 12.00 pm and was opened by the Vice Chancellor III for Student Affairs at Bung Karno University, Mr. Rinaldi Agusta Pahlevi, S.H., M.H., CLA.
In his speech, Mr. Rinaldi expressed his gratitude and appreciation for organizing this event. Hopefully it can bring benefits to UBK especially students, hopefully that they passionate on farming more, especially using hydroponic land.
“Thank you and appreciation to YIIM and Meroke Tetap Jaya Company who has collaborated with UBK thus this event was held, hopefully it will bring benefits to the academic community at UBK and especially female students who took part in the training, hopefully they can disseminate and practice knowledge and experiences from this event.”
Mr. Ahmad Fanani Rosidi as YIIM representative in his speech stated, “YIIM be thankful to Meroke Tetap Jaya Company and Bung Karno University for their cooperation and support, I hope this event will bring benefits to students and the academic community to be more passionate of planting and utilizing vacant land to be more productive.”
Meanwhile, Mr. Agus Garisman as Product & Developer Manager and trainer from Meroke Tetap Jaya Company stated “Growing organic vegetables with hydroponic growing media is not difficult, the important thing is that there is a will and passion for plants so that the results are maximum and can be consumed as healthy vegetables and even can be marketed.”
At the end of the event, Meroke Tetap Jaya Company handed over a hydroponic installation package complete with nutrients and seeds as well as rockwool for vegetable nurseries to representatives of the UBK academic community and the installation will be placed in the campus garden. In addition, the participants also received a training certificate.

YIIM as a non-profit organization is committed to continuously empowering communities to be more productive, one of the program activities is hydroponic farming training for urban communities who do not have large areas of land.
YIIM is also opened and open to support and cooperation with any parties thus more people can get benefit from YIIM’s programs and also YIIM can spread more inspiration to help in developing Indonesia.
