On August 10th in the year of 2022 Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun or known as The Foundation for Inspiration of Indonesia Development (YIIM) supported by Insight Investments Management Company re-collaborated with the Class 1 Penitentiary (BAPAS) Central Jakarta to hold an entrepreneurship steam vehicle washing training second batch for correctional inmates and the communities. This activity is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) No. 1 regarding on eradicate poverty, No. 8 regarding on decent work and economic growth, and No. 17 regarding on partnerships for the goals.

This training event was attended by Mr. Heru Prasetyo as Head of Central Jakarta BAPAS and Mr. Chrisbiantoro as Chair of YIIM Management. This training activity began with the opening of the training by Mr. Heru Presetyo as the head of the Central Jakarta BAPAS. He conveyed, “Thanks to YIIM and INSIGHT has held training for BAPAS Central Jakarta inmates. Hopefully we can continue to work together to foster communities to become more independent and developing new skills. What will be provided by YIIM can be taken advantage of by the inmates and realize it in the future.”

Mr. Chrisbiantoro as the chairman of the YIIM management also conveyed, “I congratulate you on the opportunity to take part in the vehicle steam washing training. This program is the umpteenth program in collaboration with BAPAS Central Jakarta. We hope that the vehicle steam washing training can be a way for you to open a new chapter in their life and be beneficial for all participants. Hopefully, this training can create entrepreneurs and workers in the vehicle washing MSME sector.”

The second batch of vehicle steam washing skills training was attended by 8 people, including 7 inmates assisted by BAPAS Central Jakarta and 1 person from the communities. The training started at 10.00 WIB to 15.00 WIB. Similar as the first batch, the training participants were given theoretical explanations by the trainer regarding the introduction of tools and materials for steam washing, procedures for washing and drying vehicles, tire shine techniques, and explanations about the steam washing business. After the trainer gave a theoretical explanation, the training participants were directed to practice using an electric steam dynamo and how to wash vehicle steam.

This training activity was closed with the delivery of certificates to participants who had attended the training by Mr. Ari Samanto as the Head of the Adult Inmates Guidance Section. He conveyed, “Make this training as a learning tool to develop and become better in the future.”

This training is one of the manifestations of the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between YIIM and BAPAS Central Jakarta to provide assistance and provide a platform for inmates to develop their skills. With the training held by YIIM and INSIGHT, it is hoped that the participants can be economically independent and change their lives for the better than before.
