AHMAD HUDA DIMYATI (24 Years) or commonly called Huda is one of the alumni of the AC service and cleaning training in 2020 organized by Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun/Foundation for Inspiration of Indonesia Development (YIIM) in cooperation with Insight Investments Management Company (INSIGHT). Huda is a young man from East Java who has lived with his grandmother and father since childhood. It’s been a year now that Huda has lived in a rented house in the Jatipure Village, Melati District, Bekasi City.
This program is an embodiment of INSIGHT’s commitment by cooperating with YIIM to transform investments that have a social impact. In addition, this program is also in line with the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDGs No. 1 regarding on ending poverty and SDGs No. 2 regarding on ending hunger.
Migrated to Various Cities
Since the age of 17th, Huda has migrated alone from Merauke to the last city, Jakarta. All of his family migrated to Merauke and Jakarta. While in Jakarta, Huda stayed at her sister’s place in the Pasar Minggu area. He worked odd jobs. All the work he did to support himself. Starting from selling gejrot tofu and also a dishwasher at the Kota Kasablanka mall. His first income was only able to bought the food and paid rent room.
The Beginning of a Career as an AC Technician
First time Huda started into the AC technicians when he was attending an AC washing training held by YIIM and INSIGHT in the year of 2020. At that time Huda had almost given up on looking for work. Then he got information from Instagram of YIIM which informed that YIIM was holding an AC washing training. He finally tried to register himself for the training.
Shortly thereafter, Huda got a call and attended 3-4 trainings. After the training was completed, he received a certificate and submitted a business assistance proposal. Huda also received business assistance in the form of air conditioning cleaning tools. He is very grateful because with the help of these business tools he can start an AC washing service business.
After attending the training, Huda started his own business for 6 months. Not only air conditioning, he also can repair refrigerators, washing machines, and dispensers. However, this business failed due to the lack of orders and also the name of the business which was not large.
“In the past, about a year ago, I started my own business and failed. I’ve only been starting a business for 6 months. 1-2 months still fine, 3 months mediocre, 4-6 months minus. Orders and services need to be famous and a customer. If you don’t get known it will be too hard. Marketing only relies on jobs from friends and google ads.”
Switching to Work at an AC Technician Company
After failing to start a business, Huda finally tried to register at a company in the air conditioning sector in the Grogol area and he worked at the company for 3 months. His initial income while working at the place was IDR 2,000,000 per month. He was very grateful to got a job in an AC technician service company.
“I feel like almost desperate to survive in Jakarta. I must have a strong mental to survive. We will not struggle if we have skills. After being accepted, during the first meeting I felt that this was my passion because I like to repair things.”
Shortly after working in the company he had moved several times to other companies and ended up working in a company that he currently occupies, namely ADI PUTRA JAYA TEKNIK COMPANY in Depok area. He has worked in the company for about 8-10 months. Huda’s scope of work is in the JABODETABEK area. The average area he could work is in a private house, apartment, and office. His income is currently starting to increase. For a month it is estimated at IDR 6,000,000 to IDR 8,000,000.
In addition to work, Huda is also actively involved in social activities, one of which is YIIM social activities, namely free AC washing assistance at the Al-Amjad mosque. In the future, Huda wants to learn more about AC Building / Central AC and hopes that he will have his own business and have a private spare parts shop.
