FAJAR ROBBI (22 years old) or usually called Fajar is one of the recipients of a scholarship education program given by Insight Investments Management Company (INSIGHT) in collaboration with Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun/Foundation for Inspiration of Indonesia Development (YIIM) in the year of 2019.

Fajar is currently studying in his 7th semester at the University of Bahaudin Mudhary (UNIBA) Madura majoring in Management, Faculty of Economics. The Grade Point Average (GPA) that Fajar got in the previous semester was 3.60.

Fajar is the last of two siblings. Both of his parents are currently occupied as a farmer. Fajar and his family live in the Central Pakandangan area, Sumenep.

The Beginning of Taking College Education

Fajar started his study at UNIBA Madura when he graduated from school and after a year of service at a boarding school. Fajar and other friends were given a recommendation to the principal of the Islamic boarding school to study at UNIBA Madura. Fajar decided to register at UNIBA Madura through a written test.

Both of parents were very supportive when Fajar decided to go to college. Fajar also wants to focus on education because many of the environment where Fajar lives choose work and get married. Meanwhile, Fajar wants to continue his education at the university level.

At the time of registration, Fajar chose a management major. His reason for choosing this major is because of his career path after graduating from college.

 “Because there are more job opportunities, such as in finance and others. And economics was my favourite subject in high school.”

When Fajar was selected for a scholarship, his parents were very happy and proud of him. With this scholarship, it can ease the burden on both parents.

During college, Fajar lived in a boarding school because it was quite close to campus. His lecture is on every Monday to Friday. Meanwhile on Saturday Fajar teaches at the cottage, he teaches two subjects, namely Indonesian history and Muthola’ah. For a month Fajar gets paid IDR. 150,000.

Activity During College

During his education at university, Fajar is actively involved in various organizations. on campus internally, Fajar became a member of the English Speaking Club (ESC) for the first time in 2021/2022. Furthermore, Fajar became a member of the Scout Student Activity Unit (UKM) in 2021/2022 and is currently mandated to be the chairman of the Scout UKM, as Chairman of the Racana Council, Racana is an organizational movement unit for the Pandega scout group. For external activities Fajar joined the scout organization, namely the Branch Work Council. Fajar is also active in carrying out several social activities with UKM scouts such as sharing takjil in the month of Ramadan and raising funds for victims of natural disasters.

In addition to organizational activities, Fajar is also active in committees, one of which is joining the committee in financial management seminars organized by YIIM and INSIGHT. He became a treasure in the committee.

Not only that, Fajar is one of the students who is quite accomplished. He won several competitions that he had participated in, including 3rd place in the internal campus scientific writing competition in 2019 and 1st place in the Madura regional English Vlog Contest in 2020. Then when he started as a student, Fajar was selected as one of the Best Participants for Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) in the year of 2019.

Currently, Fajar is doing an internship at Madura United for 3 months in the financial sector. This internship activity was held by Madura United in collaboration with YIIM. Fajar feels that this internship has many benefits. Fajar can learn about making financial reports, paying income tax, and VAT. Fajar also expressed his feelings when he had the opportunity to do an internship at Madura United:

“I am very happy, because I can pursue work in my field.”

His hope for the future is that when he graduates, he can continue his education to master’s degree. In order not to be burdened by his parents, he can study while working. In the future, hopefully what his plan and desired can be achieved.

Fajar also expressed his hopes for YIIM and INSIGHT:

“Hopefully this program can continue in the years to come. This is a very great program and needs to be developed.”
