Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun or known as the Foundation for Inspiration of Indonesia Development (YIIM) supported by Insight Investments Management Company (INSIGHT) on Thursday 5 January 2023 inaugurated the main connecting bridge construction project called ‘Inspiration Bridge’ for coffee farmers and other agricultural sectors who are members of the Kartika II Farmer Group on the slopes of Mount Bromo in Krajan Hamlet, Taji Village , Jabung District, Malang Regency, East Java Province.
The Kartika II Farmer Group is a farmer association consisting of dozens of coffee farmers and other agricultural sectors such as vegetables, fruits, cloves and is located on the slopes of Mount Bromo, Malang Regency.
In July 2022, YIIM’s Team visited coffee farmer groups in Malang in order to survey the needs, constraints and difficulties being faced by coffee farmers, one of which was the Kartika II Farmer Group in Taji Village, Jabung District, Malang Regency. Taji Village farmers complain about the fragile road access bridge that disrupts farming activities.
Prior to the construction of the project, the bridge was still a semi-permanent bamboo bridge which local farmers had to build together once a year because it was damaged by porousness and flooding. The activities of farmers transporting plantation products in the form of coffee, vegetables, fruits and other agricultural products have become paralyzed. This bridge is very important for farmers as their farming activity, distributing crops, and even being the main road connecting residents between villages between Taji Village and Pandangsari Lor Village.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the Inspiration Bridge. Also were attending Mr. Chrisbiantoro (Chairman of YIIM) and his staff. Mr. Ngaturi (Chair of the Kartika II Farmers Group at Taji Village), Sugeng Santoso (Representative of the Taji Village Government Malang), and Sergeant Chief Heri Purnomo (Head of Babinsa Taji Village). The inauguration ceremony was also attended by approximately 30 local farmers. During the event, there was also a traditional village thanksgiving event in the form of tangerine kendi, cutting of jugs, gamelan arts and jaranan kepang.
In his remarks Mr. Chrisbiantoro conveyed “Through social and humanitarian programs and the Corporate Social Responsibility program we can realize this in the form of building a permanent bridge which hopefully can support the activities of coffee farmers and other farmers in Taji village to be more productive. We are grateful that the plans we have discussed in the year of 2022 can be realized. Hopefully next year there will be no more porous, collapsed, and washed away bridges due to floods.”
On the same occasion Mr. Isnaeni Setiawan as the Coordinator of Corporate Social Responsibility of Insight Investments Management Company conveyed “INSIGHT is an investment manager company. What distinguishes us from other investment companies is that we invite our customers to invest while sharing goodness for the community and the surrounding environment, in accordance with our principle of “Transforming Investments to Social Impact” through our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. The construction of this permanent bridge is one form of Insight’s concern for the lives of farmers. Hopefully with this permanent bridge it can help farmers to be more productive.”
Furthermore, Mr. Ngaturi in his remarks delivered “We are very grateful to INSIGHT and YIIM, previously this bridge was very difficult for the community and farmers in Taji village to pass. Now, thank God, we can easily connect roads between villages between Taji Village and Pandangsari Lor”
This program is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (TPB) number 1 on eradicating poverty, number 9 on infrastructure, number 10 on reducing inequality, and number 17 on partnerships to achieve goals.
