Jakarta Tuesday, November 1st 2022, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun or known as the Foundation for Inspiration of Indonesia Development (YIIM) held a webinar with the theme “Creating Synergy in the Empowerment Agenda for the Survivors”.
Survivors are direct victims including family of victims as well as witnesses in priority criminal cases as stipulated by Law Number 31 of 2014 concerning Protection of Witnesses and Victims. Survivors of priority crimes consist of: 1# victims of past and current serious human rights violations, 2# victims of terrorism crimes, 3# victims of the Trafficking in Persons (TPPO), 4# victims of Money Laundering (TPPU), 5 # The crime of torture, 6 # the crime of corruption and other crimes under the authority of the Witness and Victim Protection Agency.
The purpose of holding this webinar is a forum to be able to share experiences from various other institutions in empowerment strategies for survivors to realize the synergy of empowerment agendas for survivors. This results in collaboration that provides maximum impact for the survivors.
The purpose of holding this webinar is to provide information and education about psychosocial programs, namely empowerment programs for victims and families of victims of priority crimes who have become survivors through assistance programs in the form of social entrepreneurship training organized by LPSK and YIIM since the end of 2019. Referring to the data training presented by YIIM recorded 18 cooperation programs that have been implemented with details of 15 community empowerment programs, 2 educational programs, 1 social and humanitarian program. From those programs 18 provinces have been reached with details:
- Sumatra Island consists of North Sumatra, Riau, Jambi and Lampung.
- Java Island consists of Banten, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta and East Java
- Kalimantan Island consists of West Kalimantan, South Kalimantan and East Kalimantan
Then for the number of survivors who received the benefits consisted of 287 survivors with the following details:
- 240 survivors have participated in the social entrepreneurship community empowerment program
- 46 survivors received educational aids in the form of books, bags and school supplies
- 1 survivor received assistance to support treatment, namely masks, medicines, vitamins and other supporting needs.
The webinar is held online via the Zoom application, from 13.00 to 15.30 WIB. The opening of the webinar was attended by Mr. Basil Fernando from the Asian Human Right Commission who conveyed a keynote speakers and moderated by Ega Melindo as researcher of YIIM.
This webinar presented a resource person, Dr. Maneger Nasution S.Ag., M.A. Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK RI) and Chrisbiantoro, S.H., LL.M Chairperson of the Foundation for Inspiration of Indonesia Development (YIIM).
Also were present Mufti Ahbal, Survivor/Victim of Criminal Acts of Terrorism/Protected LPSK RI and Wanmayetti, Survivor/Victim of Criminal Acts assisted by YIIM. Attended by 100 participants, this webinar was filled with testimonies, survivors, speaker presentations followed by discussions and questions and answers.
In his occasion, Chairman of YIIM Chrisbiantoro delivered that the Foundation for Inspiration of Indonesia Development and the Indonesian Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK RI) had carried out an empowerment agenda for survivors in terms of psychosocial recovery and the independence of the survivors. Some of the programs that have been run include social entrepreneurship training in terms of hard skills and soft skills organized by YIIM for protected survivors of LPSK RI. In terms of sustainability (sustainability).
Furthermore, the Chairman of YIIM added for the survivors, “being economically independent does not mean forgetting the struggle for advocating the case, but economic independence being part of the moral and spirit movement that supports the advocacy of the case.”
In his occasion, Dr. Maneger Nasution delivered that we are now starting to be able to define victim survivors in a general sense, stepping into the survivor stage which means those who can rise up and further their collaboration synergy is a key step to realize the mandate and laws given to LPSK in the context of fulfilling victims’ rights in the context of rehabilitation and psychosocial. Furthermore, LPSK believes that we cannot work alone, it requires cooperation from many parties. In the webinar, the survivors’ representatives presented their testimony, Wanmayetti as YIIM’s Survivors/Victims of Criminal Acts delivered, LPSK and YIIM are help her a lot, Yeti also conveyed through the trainings organized by YIIM adding new knowledge and skills in continuing her life. Meanwhile Mufti Ahbal Survivor/Terrorism Victim/Protected LPSK RI who is also an alumni of YIIM’s barista training in his testimony, expressed his gratitude for having received coffee barista training and business assistance from YIIM until now he has his own coffee shop that supports his daily life.
