Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun or known as the Foundation for Inspiration of Indonesia Development (YIIM) in cooperation with Insight Investments Management Company seeks to contribute to helping people in need of empowering by holding a social entrepreneurship program, namely coffee barista training, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number 1 regarding on eradicating poverty and number 8 regarding on decent work and economic growth.
Ezra Ollyn Christiyani or called Ezra (33 years old) is one of the alumni of the coffee barista training organized by the Foundation for Inspiration of Indonesia Development (YIIM) and Insight Investments Management company (INSIGHT) in the year of 2019.
Ezra currently lives with his parents in the Taman Harapan Baru Housing area, Bekasi City, West Java. At the beginning of 2020 Ezra stopped working as an HRD staff with the intention of taking a short break and then after taking a break he will re-looking for work. However, this plan was hampered by COVID-19 pandemic. In the end, he decided to selling vegetables.
Beginning to Change
In mid-2020, Ezra was selected to take part in a coffee barista training organized by YIIM and INSIGHT. Ezra was grateful because he had the opportunity to take part in coffee barista training and this has been a dream for a long time.
“I’m really excited because I have a passion for coffee. I have a dream of taking a coffee course, but prevented by the fee.”
After attending the training, Ezra had the opportunity to take part in an internship at Kopi Inspirasi. Besides that, Ezra also received business capital assistance provided by YIIM and INSIGHT in the form of carts, coffee equipment, and raw materials. The assistance is used by Ezra in the best possible way to build a business.
With a strong determination, Ezra eventually started to open a coffee business with the name “Ribelle coffee”. Ezra’s shop is located in front of his parents’ shop with the concept of to go and is open from 4 pm to 10 pm. Various menus are sold by Ezra at a price of IDR. 12,000 to IDR. 20,000. In addition to coffee drinks, Ezra also sells various snacks such as fried sausage, fried indomie, french fries, and martabak noodles at a price range of IDR 7,500 to IDR 15,000.
Not only in carts, Ezra also expands his business by selling on grabfood and gofood for 24 hours. Ezra often holds item discounts or shipping discounts for online sales. The turnover obtained in this coffee business is around IDR 1,000,000 to IDR 2,000,000 every month.
Have Other Business
Ezra was very grateful that he finally had an income. In addition to the coffee business, he also has other businesses and activities such as selling credit and selling vegetables through the Grab Merchant application in order to helping his mother, and actively creating YouTube content.
Ezra hopes in the future to have a cafe with a neat layout and customers can enjoy coffee at the cafe.
