From Friday 3rd to 7th July 2023 YIIM and Insight held hairstyling and hairdressing training, held at the Pondok Bambu Rutan, East Jakarta. This training is a series of training programs that aim to jointly realize productive empowerment for the inmates of the state detention center.
The second introductory remarks from Mr. Chrisbiantoro as Chairman of the Foundation of Inspiration for Indonesia Development or known as Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) in his remarks Mr. Chrisbiantoro conveyed that “with the selection of hairdressing and hairstylist training it is hoped that the training participants will have entrepreneurial management knowledge about micro and small business financial accounting and business planning and digital marketing in the field of hairdressing services. Inmates who participating in the training can pass on the knowledge and skills gained from hairdressing training to other inmates who have not attended training. Inmates participating in the training are able to practice the results of the hairdressing training through business units available at the Pondok Bambu Detention Center Class I. Inmates participating in the training can have independent micro and small businesses in the field of hairdressing services after completing their sentence.”
The hairstyling training was attended by 10 participants, this training presenting Khutbi training (Hairstylist and owner of DeLavina Salon) and Agus Jamaludin as assistant trainer. Hairdressing and hair stylist training was carried out for 5 days, every day the training starts at 09.00 to 15.30 WIB. The material presented in this training includes: (1). Material about getting to know hairstylist or hairdressing devices and equipment, (2). Material about the division of hair parts, (3). Material about understanding pruning techniques, (4). Material about blow dry technique, and last (5) Material about creambath. In this series of training, participants are provided with training modules that have been prepared by the trainer team in cooperation with the committee, each participant is also given a hairstyling tool kit that is used in hands-on practice sessions.
In the hands-on practice session, each participant was given the task of practicing how to use scissors and cutting techniques, lifting techniques, practicing full oval hairstyles, practicing parallel graduation trimming techniques with diagonal plus trimming pattern lines, finishing haircuts, layering practices, and finally creambath and blow dry practices. In this practical session each participant used a hair style mannequin, on the last day of the training the participants practice with a human model (native person) by inviting fellow inmates as customers with the desired hairstyle choice.
This program is also part of YIIM and INSIGHT’s commitment to support government programs to create productive detention center and capable of equipping inmates with various skills. It is hoped that this program can inspire wider elements who have concern for economic and social empowerment in detention centers. Thus it can break the chain of potential crimes in criminal acts.
