Strengthening the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with Financial and Investment Goal Planning

Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun or known as the Foundation for Inspiration of Indonesia Development (YIIM) in collaboration with Insight Investments Management Company (INSIGHT) held a hybrid public discussion with the theme “Introducing Investment and Planning Financial Goals to Support MSMEs Activists.” This event took place at the Kopi Inspirasi Grand Wijaya Centre Coffee Shop, Block F/62 B, South Jakarta.

The participants of this event were alumni of the social entrepreneurship training program who have pioneered Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) as a result of the YIIM collaboration program with INSIGHT from 2018 to 2022 from several training menus: Coffee Barista, Barber, Culinary and Makeup. Their backgrounds are quite diverse, including former fostered residents, victims of criminal acts, underprivileged communities, laid-off workers, especially to friends with disabilities.

Total participants of the hybrid seminar event 49 people consisting of 20 participants via offline (face-to-face) and 29 participants via zoom online. This event was attended by Mrs. Ria Mristika Warganda, as marketing Director of Insight Investments Management Company, who gave a speech as well as a trigger for discussion and Mr. Andrean Malta, as Head of Retail Sales Distribution and Business Alliances Insight Investments Management. In addition, also giving a speech in this event was Mr. Chrisbiantoro, as the Chairman of the Foundation for Inspiration of Indonesia Development.

In his remarks, Mr. Chrisbiantoro conveyed, ” Alumni of MSME activists are certainly no strangers to INSIGHT as a good friend and main partner of YIIM who has been supporting social entrepreneurship training programs. I see that our MSME activists have a good income. But I’m not sure yet if friends have invested. This event is for our learning how to invest in the latest way. It has been 8 years since Insight accompanied us to produce a tremendous impact that now many alumni of social entrepreneurship training have been successful. Hopefully what is taught can benefit all.”

Next, the remarks from Mrs. Ria Meristika Warganda conveyed “INSIGHT is an investment management company. What distinguishes us from other investment companies is that we invite customers to invest while sharing the good for the community and the surrounding environment, in accordance with our principle of “Transforming Investments to Social Impact” through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs. So far, we have helped produce MSME activists with YIIM, because MSMEs are the heart of the Indonesian economy. Indonesia’s prediction in the year of  2023 will withstand recession because the contribution of MSMEs is very large for the domestic economy. I invite MSME activists assisted by INSIGHT-YIIM to both become customers of YIIM mutual fund products, of course, according to their respective financial goals. With this event, hopefully it can open up the knowledge of MSME activists.

Then continued with the presentation of material on financial and investment planning by Mr. Andrean Malta, he conveyed, “Everyone must have financial planning for a better future, as well as MSME activists must also have financial planning for the future of the business. Income from business results is sometimes unpredictable, but the needs of each month must be met. Therefore, MSME activists can plan finances with one of them is mutual fund investment through the Insight mutual fund product. For my fellow MSME activists, let’s both plan our finances while helping others”.

As an MSME activists, having financial planning is a non-negotiable need. This is important because it will determine their future and survival. This activity is important to be able to identify how far the assisted MSME activists have a financial plan, what tools have been used to save money and are they familiar with investing for future purposes?

Currently, there are many choices of investment tools available, such as investments in the capital or stock markets, mutual funds, gold or precious metals, property, and so on. It turns out that investing is not as difficult as people think. Even if we observe today, many young people are increasingly investing hard. Investment has now become a cool trend for young people.

However, these investment activities are still not fully part of important financial planning for MSME activists. In fact, it is common for fear to arise with the news of fraudulent investment. If MSME activists know the benefits of investment, it will increase knowledge to determine better financial goals.

The program is in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number 4 on quality education, number 8 on decent work and economic growth, and number 17 on partnerships to achieve goals.

Inspiration greetings!
