Steam Vehicle Washing Skills Training for Inmates And Pre Prosper Communities

On August 1, 2022, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun or known as The Foundation for Inspiration of Indonesia Development (YIIM) supported by with Insight Investments Management Company (INSIGHT) and in cooperation with Class 1 Penitentiary (BAPAS) Central Jakarta held a Steam Vehicle Wash Entrepreneurship Training for correctional inmates and the general community. This empowerment activity is also in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) No. 1 on End Poverty, No. 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth, and No. 17 on Partnership for the Goals.

The Steam Vehicle Washing Entrepreneurship Training is the embodiment of the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between YIIM and BAPAS Central Jakarta to assist and provide skills for the inmates. In the midst of the current pandemic, many people, especially the inmates, are experiencing economic difficulties. It is hoped that by participating in the training held by YIIM and INSIGHT can have a positive impact on the participants to be economically independent.

The training event was attended by Ari Samanto as Head of the Adult Inmates Guidance Section and Riccana Rosita as YIIM Representative. Before the training begins Ari Samanto open and conveyed, “Thanks to YIIM and Insight Investments Management Company for the re-organization of skills training for BAPAS Jakpus fostered residents. This training collaboration is in order to realize the development of independence for the inmates thus they have life skills which can be applied in the community later. On this occasion, we also advise the participants to make the most of the training and really absorb the knowledge provided by the trainers well.”

Furthermore, Riccana Rosita conveyed, “As one of the social institutions supported by Insight Investments Management Company, YIIM has again held a Steam Vehicle Washing Entrepreneurship Training Phase 1. produce several alumni who have become independent entrepreneurs. It is hoped that from this Steam Vehicle Washing Training, the participants will also be motivated to make changes that will be beneficial for themselves and their families.”

A total of 9 participants attended the Vehicle Steam Washing Skills Training (Wave 1), including 6 inmates BAPAS Central Jakarta and 3 people from the general community. The training starts from 10.00 to 15.00 WIB. The participants who attended were taught starting from giving theory by the trainer, starting from the introduction of tools and materials for steam vehicle washing, the mechanics of how to wash and dry vehicles, tire shine techniques to find out business opportunities from the steam vehicle washing business. After the nine theories, the participants began to practice how to wash vehicle steam and use commonly used equipment such as an electric steam dynamo. After the Steam Vehicle Washing Training Phase 1, there will be a second wave of training for the inmates and the general community with pre-prosperous backgrounds, children who have dropped out of school, and people who are victims of Termination of Employment (PHK).
