R. Ika Damayanti (43 years) or usually called Mrs. Ika is one of the alumni of the cooking training organized by The Foundation for Inspiration of Indonesia Development/Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) in cooperation with Insight Investments Management Company in the year of 2022. This training is one of the community empowerment programs that aims to prosper the community’s economy. This training is in line with the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDGs Number 1 regarding on ending poverty and SDGs Number 2 regarding on ending hunger.

Mrs. Ika is a housewife who currently lives with her husband and their four children in a house in the Depok area. Her husband is a coffee barista who currently works in a coffee shop. Every day Mrs. Ika takes care of the children and helps her husband at the coffee shop, such as making food.

Running a Business in the Culinary Sector

Apart from taking care of her children and helping her husband, she also runs a culinary business under the name “Dapur Aidan”. This business has been run by Mrs. Ika since 2017 until now. Starting from her desire to see her older sister have a business in the culinary field, she finally learned to make cakes with her older sister and finally worked up the courage to open a business.

Mrs. Ika accepts orders for various kinds of wet cakes ranging from kue lumpur, kue putu ayu, risol, and others. For the price of cakes sold starting from IDR 2,000 to IDR 3,000. While running her business, she did marketing through her personal social media such as WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook. When getting orders, Mrs. Ika is sometimes assisted by her child during the cake-making process.

Applying the Science of Calculating Selling Prices From Training Materials

Mrs Ika’s interest in culinary arts made her enroll in the cooking training held by YIIM and INSIGHT. She wants to develop his cooking skills to support his business.

After attending the training, Ms. Ika felt the many benefits she gained after attending the training. Starting from knowing how to make frozen food to knowing how to calculate the Cost of Goods Sold (HPP).

“After attending the training, I know how to make frozen food, the plan is to make it an additional menu. Then I also paid more attention to the capital calculation, the HPP. In addition, Mrs. Ika also hopes that her business will continue to grow and become more skilled so that she can add variants to the food menu in her business.
