On Friday 6th January of 2023, Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun or known as the Foundation for Inspiration of Indonesia Development (YIIM) held a meeting and friendly gathering with the Malang Class 1 Correctional Institution (BAPAS), the meeting took place at the BAPAS office which is located at Jalan Barito Number 1, Bunulrejo, Blimbing District, Malang City, East Java.
On this occasion, Mr. Sugandi, Head of BAPAS Class 1 Malang and his staff were present. Meanwhile, YIIM was represented by Mr. Chrisbiantoro as YIIM Chairman and Mr. Achmad Fanani Rosyidi as Program Manager.
The meeting was part of a series of follow-up monitoring agendas after the holding of the Social Entrepreneurship Management Training program for clients of former-terrorism convicts (Napiters) held by YIIM at the BAPAS Malang Office. The program was held on 28th to 29th March in the year of 2022 by YIIM in collaboration with BAPAS Malang, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), United Nations Security Council Counter – Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED), United Nations Office Counter-Terrorism – UN Counter Terrorism Centre (UNCCT) and From the People of Japan. This activity is in the context of monitoring the results of training for ex-convicts of terrorism and former convicts of ordinary crime. This visit aims to establish cooperation between institutions and find out how the training results are implemented by the alumni. This agenda is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) SDGs Number 17 Partnership to achieve development goals.
The meeting began with an introduction from Mr. Sugandi as the Head of Class 1 BAPAS Malang conveyed:
“BAPAS Class 1 Malang is grateful for the hospitality from the Foundation. Previously we have conducted entrepreneurship management training for our clients. Hopefully in the future we can continue to collaborate to strengthen the independence aspect of our clients. We now have a new program; we already have a building for our own training centre in the Pujon Malang area. We can take advantage from it.”
On the same occasion, Mr. Chrisbiantoro as the Chairman of the YIIM Management conveyed:
“Thank you for accepting our visit to the BAPAS Malang Office. Previously, we had conducted management training for both convict convicts and general criminal clients. This visit is a series of our activities in Malang. Because after this we will stay in touch with convict clients in Malang and Probolinggo. This visit is part of monitoring the results of the training for clients which are former terrorist convicted as well as clients of ordinary crime under BAPAS MALANG.
