On December 8th 2023, in the Kamal Village area, West Jakarta, CT ARSA Foundation collaborated with YIIM and Insight Investments Management Company organized a Festival under the theme Jago Literasi, Jaga Bumi, or in English Be Good at Literacy, Protect the Earth as the culmination of the Arsa Adventure series of events. This activity showcases the work of children and the community who have participated in a series of activities, including workshops, exhibitions, fairs and art shows.
Arsa Adventure: Jago Literasi, Jago Bumi is an initiative of the CT Arsa Foundation literacy program in collaboration with YIIM and INSIGHT. This program aims to provide understanding to the public about the importance of protecting the environment, as well as encouraging changes in peoples behavior to be more environmentally friendly. Through a series of scientific and environmental literacy activities, training and community empowerment, this program includes the use of used cooking oil to make soap, training inm making eco-enzymes, hydroponic training and the use of waste into goods with new value and function. This Eco Festival is the highlight of the event which shows the results of this joint effort.
In his speech, a representative from the chairman of the Kamal reading park said, Hopefully the collaboration between CT ARSA, YIIM, and INSIGHT will continue, so that the enthusiasm of the children and community in Kamal does not just stop here, but will continue to develop in efforts to care for the environment. To continue to innovate and work together for a sustainable and better future.”
At this bazaar, a number of children act as stand guards displaying their creative work. This stand consists of several posts displaying products made by children during the activity. Meanwhile, they are also invited to get involved in social entrepreneurship activities through photo printing and selling frames from used goods.
The festival activities closed with the Bibir Merah Dance performance, a creative dance work that combines traditional Betawi elements. This dance was presented by two childrens representatives in pairs, adding a touch of beauty and collaboration to the closing of the event. Apart from providing a stage for local artistic expression, the closing of this festival also provides inspiration for children to continue to maintain and develop their cultural heritage.
