On August 19th 2023, as a form of concern and responsibility to the community, Insight Investments Management Company, through the CSR funding scheme, collaborates with The Foundation of Inspiration for Indonesia Development or known as Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) contribute to the Environmental Conservation Program providing sponsorship support of IDR. 27,000,000,- (Twenty seven million rupiah) for the activities of The 18th Project on The Moves (PROMS) of the Management Association of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia (FEB UI), the biggest social event organized by the Management Association of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University Indonesia (FEB UI). Environmental Conservation Program through Pre-Event 2: Giving For The Living, with the theme “Harnessing Growth Opportunities for Sustainable Living”. PROMS social activities aim to make a real contribution to society by increasing awareness of social issues.
In Indonesia, several sea turtles species face a serious risk of extinction due to loss of coastal habitat, illegal hunting and accidental fishing. Green sea turtles, hawksbill sea turtles, leatherback sea turtles, and olive ridley sea turtles are some of the threatened species. The South Coast of Sukabumi is one of the areas where green turtles (Chelonia Mydas, ed.) exist, but the turtle population continues to decline. One of the reasons sea turtles are threatened with extinction is also because of human activities that destroy their habitats.
The Indonesian government has taken steps to protect sea turtles, including the establishment of marine parks, the establishment of protected areas, and a ban on catching sea turtles. However, protection efforts still need to be improved and require cooperation between the government, NGOs and the community to overcome the threat of turtle extinction in Indonesia.
YIIM and INSIGHT support to protect the marine ecosystem in the Ujung Genteng area, Sukabumi by planting 1,878 shoots, including mangroves and pandanus, assistance from mangrove and pandanus plants which are useful as plants to prevent abrasion and flooding, as a nest for sea turtle eggs, increasing the survival of turtle eggs, and also functions to maintain the ecosystem on the beach. Assistance in renovating sea turtle staging areas, and releasing hatchlings (baby turtles). Improvement of the turtle hatchery, the aim of which is to protect turtle nests, increase hatching success, and serve as a research and education center. The beneficiaries, namely students and the community of the Ujung Genteng area, Sukabumi, gain knowledge and experience in caring for and preserving the coastal environment.
The assistance provided by YIIM and INSIGHT is a real contribution to Ujung Genteng Beach in helping to improve the area’s ecosystem and also conserve sea turtle life. This environmental preservation program is a form of Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) or corporate social responsibility (CSR) from INSIGHT to the community in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number 14 regarding on protecting marine ecosystems and SDGs Number 17 regarding on partnerships to achieve objective.
The Foundation of Inspiration for Indonesia Development as a non-profit organization is open to all parties who wish to support or make donations in any form. Every donation given to YIIM will be directly distributed to beneficiaries who are in need and less fortunate.
