Irma Chaerunisyah (41 years) or usually called Mrs. Irma is one of the alumni of the Makeup training organized by the Foundation of Inspiration for Indonesia Development or known as Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) in cooperation with Insight Investments Management Company in collaboration with Revlon in the year of 2020. This program is one of the community’s economic empowerment programs that aims to improve the economy of underprivileged communities. This program is in line with the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDGs number 1 regarding on ending poverty and number 2 regarding on ending hunger.

Irma is a single parent. Currently, she lives with her five children and her parents in a house in Cileungsi, Bogor. Mrs. Irma is a housewife who focuses on taking care of her children.

Starting from Hobby to Becoming Main Job

The first time Mrs. Irma got into the world of make-up was in 2016. When she was young, she liked to dress up. From this pleasure, she learnt the world of makeup. She is self-taught, and also attends various seminars and workshops, one of which is make up training organized by YIIM and INSIGHT.

By participating in the training held by YIIM and PT INSIGHT, Mrs. Irma’s make-up technique has developed and has motivated her to learn and be enthusiastic about opening a make-up service. Mrs. Irma slowly started to become a make-up artist starting in her home environment. The first time Ibu Irma received an income of IDR 500,000 for bridal make-up. This first experience became one of the marketing strategies for Mrs. Irma’s services so that her services are widely known. This job is also the main source of income for Mrs. Irma to meet the needs of her and her family.

Business Expands and Grows

Feeling unsatisfied, Mrs. Irma continued to learn how to do makeup. Now, Mrs. Irma is growing by getting makeup service jobs in various areas, namely Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) and Yogyakarta. Not only as a freelancer, Mrs. Irma is also often offered jobs by one of the vendors and studios.

Currently, Mrs. Irma has found work as a bridal make-up artist with a total of 4-5 people/month and graduation makeup artists can be more than 10 people/month. Now, her average monthly net income is IDR 10,000,000. Also, Mrs. Irma is currently working with 2 assistants.

Mrs. Irma’s passion for making her dreams come true is something young people should emulate. Mrs. Irma hopes that her business as a make-up artist will develop further, and she wants to develop her talent in the world of make-up.
