On Thursday 25th May 2023 the Foundation for Inspiration of Indonesia Development or known as Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) supported by Insight Investments Management Company (INSIGHT) in collaboration with the Pondok Bambu Class 1 State Detention Center (Rutan) held a ceremonial event opening the collaboration of social entrepreneurship training programs for inmates of Pondok Bambu Rutan. The event was held inside the detention center and began with the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (SPK) between Pondok Bambu Detention Center and YIIM.
Pondok Bambu Detention Center is a technical implementation unit in the field of corrections which is under the regional office of the DKI Jakarta Ministry of Law and Human Rights. Apart from detainees, Pondok Bambu Detention Center also accepts placements from inmates. It should be noted that all inmates of the detention center are actually women.
The event was attended by a total of 83 people including 35 female inmates, 30 people from the prison guards, and the rest from detention center officials, Directors and team of INSIGHT, team of YIIM, trainers, and invited guests. This event was held at the Pondok Bambu Prison Class 1 which is located at Jalan Hero of the Revolution No. 38, RT 04/RW 03, Pondok Bambu, Kec. Duren Sawit, City of East Jakarta, DKI Jakarta. The ceremonial agenda was held from 08.30 to 12.00 WIB which began with the signing of the SPK between YIIM, represented by Mr. Chrisbiantoro, SH., LL.M as Chair of the Board and Mrs. Dewi Sondari BC.I.P.,S.An.
The ceremonial event was attended by Ms. Ria Warganda as the Director of Investments Management Company and staff, Chrisbiantoro, S.H., LL.M as Chair of the Foundation for Inspiration of Indonesia Development and staff, Mrs. Dewi Sondari Dewi Sondari, BC.I.P., S.An, as the Head of the Pondok Bambu Class 1 State Detention Center, Noor Farikha, A.Md.IP,S.H.,M.H. as the Head of the Prison Service Section for Class 1 Pondok Bambu Detention Center and other Structural Officials, the Clergy namely Ustadz Asep Suryono, Pastor Abraham Hutagalung, and Pastor Ronto Sihombing.
This ceremonial activity began with opening remarks from Mr. Chrisbiantoro as the Chairperson of the YIIM Management. He delivered, “We, YIIM and INSIGHT are like father and son, the YIIM founders are INSIGHT officials. We express our gratitude for continuing to be trusted by INSIGHT to hold an entrepreneurship training program for inmates of the Women’s Detention Center in collaboration with Pondok Bambu Detention Center Class 1. As the tagline from INSIGHT, namely investments to social impact, we ensure that some of the funds from these investors can provide a good social impact for the welfare of the assisted residents. Hopefully this training can be a provision for the inmates to be independent”
Furthermore Mrs. Ria Warganda as the Director of INSIGHT gave a speech “INSIGHT is an investment management company founded 20 years ago to manage investors’ funds placed in the capital market as investments. Our vision and mission are not only to invite and introduce investment, but we also want to make investment useful for the surrounding community. Thus, INSIGHT set aside a portion of the company’s income for social activities. The community empowerment program through entrepreneurship training for inmates is one of the programs we collaborate with YIIM. Hopefully this training can be useful, and I am very grateful and thankful to the Pondok Bambu Class 1 State Detention Center for being one of the implementing partners in this program.”
Furthermore, Mrs. Noor as Noor Farikha, A.Md.IP,S.H.,M.H. as the Head of Detention Services Section for Class 1 Pondok Bambu Detention Center conveyed, “Since the Covid-19 incident, this is the first time we have held entrepreneurship training that has received external sponsorship. We are very grateful and especially grateful to INSIGHT and YIIM who have helped us a lot by holding this program. Of course, the entrepreneurship and skills training program is very much needed by the assisted members and will be very beneficial for the independence of the assisted members in the future.”
In the event YIIM, PT INSIGHT, and Pondok Bambu Class 1 Detention Center will do further collaboration to hold a series of community empowerment program activity plans in the form of frozen food cooking training, sewing clothes, hair salon training, entrepreneurship management training such as marketing strategy and simple scale financial bookkeeping. MSMEs, and Financial Literacy Seminars that will be held from May to July in the year of 2023.
This activity is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) No. 1 on fighting poverty, No. 8 regarding on decent work and economic growth, and No. 17 regarding on partnerships to achieve goals.
As a non-profit organization, YIIM is very open to all parties who wish to support or make donations in any form. Because every donation given to YIIM will be distributed directly to the rightful beneficiaries.
