Insight Investments Management comapany (INSIGHT) in collaboration with Bung Karno University (UBK) supported by Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun or known as the Foundation for Inspiration of Indonesia Development (YIIM) held a financial literacy seminar with the theme “Investment Strategy in Facing the 2023 Economic Recession Threat” on December 21, 2022 at the Fatmawati Hall, Bung University Karno at Jl Kimia No. 20, RT 10/RW 01, Pegangsaan Village, Menteng District, Central Jakarta City, DKI Jakarta.
Participants in this event were the academic community at Bung Karno University with a total of 135 participants consisting of students, female students, lecturers, heads of deans of each study program, vice-chancellors I, II, III, and university rectors. Among them 119 participants from among students.
This event was attended by Mrs. Alifah Ghina Maharani, as Deputy Head of Retail Sales of Insight Investments Management, who was also a guest speaker at the seminar. Then Dr. Didik Suhariyanto, S.H., M.H. as Chancellor of Bung Karno University who also gave a speech. Furthermore, Vice Chancellor III Rinaldi Agusta Fahlevie S.H., M.H., CLA.; Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Susanto Yogo Purnomo S.E., M.Pd .; Drs. Glen Fortuna Dela Fortega, MM. sh. MH., Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics who was also a resource person; and Ms. Erita Oktasari,SE.,MM, Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business who is also the moderator of the seminar. In addition, also giving remarks at this event was Ms. Riccana, as Treasurer of the Board of Trustees of the Inspiration Indonesia Builds Foundation.
Prior to starting the main discussion event in the seminar, training was held in advance for coffee barista demonstration skills in making espresso coffee menus. Facilitated by Humam Hasan who is an alumni of the 2018 social entrepreneurship training fostered by INSIGHT and YIIM who is also a recipient of a scholarship to study management majoring at UBK in collaboration with YIIM, INSIGHT and UBK. In addition, assisted by assistant coach Fransisca Nathalie, the owner of the sasca coffee shop, who is also an alumni of the 2020 training.
On the same occasion, Mrs. Alifah Ghina Maharani conveyed “Facing the year of 2023 economic recession, we need to be wiser in financial planning. One of them is investing in a secure platform. INSIGHT is a safe and trusted investment manager company. What distinguishes us from other investment companies is that we invite our customers to invest while sharing goodness for the community and the surrounding environment, in accordance with our principle of “Transforming Investments to Social Impact” through our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. So far, we have been consistent in helping the community through CSR programs throughout the archipelago that are assisted by YIIM.”
In the remarks of Dr. Didik Suhariyanto, S.H., M.H. conveyed “It is important for the Bung Karno University academic community to strengthen their role in advancing the economy in Indonesia in facing the challenges of the 2023 economic recession. We need to increase economic independence and be able to adapt. Apart from needing to be wiser in planning personal finances and we need to jointly oversee the government and the private sector in the ongoing investment process in Indonesia. Hopefully this long-standing collaboration between UBK, YIIM, and INSIGHT can produce useful actions. One of them is through this seminar.”
Furthermore, Mrs. Riccana Rosita in her speech delivered “This seminar is a series of activities from the collaboration between the two institutions, namely YIIM and since 2 years ago which is consistently always supported by our main partner PT INSIGHT We have produced many forms of cooperation. We hope that holding this seminar can strengthen the role of the UBK academic community in advancing financial literacy. Also, building awareness and discipline in financial investment for better future planning.”
In the context of promoting financial literacy in facing the challenges of the 2023 economic recession, it is important for the academic community to take a role in strengthening financial and investment literacy.
The campus as an education center can be an agent for educating the public in strengthening awareness of financial literacy and investment. In addition, the campus can become a center for strengthening investment knowledge among the academic community in a sustainable manner.
This program is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (TPB) number 4 on quality education, number 8 on decent work and economic growth, and number 17 on partnerships to achieve goals.
