YIIM and PTC assist alumni of Barista Training to implement his dream opening a Coffee Business UMKM

Mr. Ari Afriyadi (25 years old) or commonly called Mr. Ari is one of the alumni of the coffee barista social entrepreneurship training batch 1 in the year of 2021 which was organized by Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun / The Foundation for Inspiration of Indonesia Development (YIIM) in cooperation with Pertamina Training and Consulting Company (PTC).

Currently, Mr. Ari lives with his wife and two children. In his daily life, Mr. Ari works in a Chinese restaurant and in the evening running his small coffee shop. Since a few years ago, Mr. Ari wanted to learn barista coffee to develop his business which had previously been stopped due to the pandemic.

In the end, Mr. Ari had the opportunity to take part in the training organized by YIIM. Mr. Ari is very grateful for the opportunity to learn starting from  theory how to be Barista to practice as barista.

Passion of Developing His Business

In order to re-running his business, Mr. Ari did various ways to develop his business. In collecting business capital, Mr. Ari started from working as an online motorcycle taxi and then working at a non-coffee drink bar, to currently working in a Chinese restaurant. The work is still being carried out by Mr. Ari to this day to fulfil all needs and complete the facilities at his small shop. After attending the training, Mr. Ari also had the opportunity to receive assistance from YIIM and PTC. This assistance is highly used by Mas Ari to tidy up his coffee shop business.

Hard Work Pays Off

With his passion and hard work, finally Mr. Ari’s shop has reopened under the name “Tasting Coffee F&B”. The shop has been open since January 15th, in the year of 2022 with the concept of a hut (saung). This shop is run by his wife every day while run by Mr. Ari when he is off work. The position of the shop is in an alley, next to his residence with vacant land owned by his brother. Every day, the shop is open from 08.00-20.00 west Indonesian time.

Mr. Ari business runs in stages. Starting from trying to mix beverage, promoting his business to his closest friends, and doing marketing through social media such as Whatsapp and Instagram. In addition, Mr. Ari has also registered his shop to some application which are GoFood and GrabFood. Various menus are sold at his shop, namely coffee and non-coffee drinks, and various snacks such as burgers, pasta, dim sum, grilled sausages, and toast. The prices for drinks starts from IDR 5,000 to IDR 10,000 while for snack starts from IDR. 1,000 to IDR. 12,000. The packaging used for beverages is plastic cup and closed using a cup sealer. For the beverages ingredients, Mr. Ari order from online marketplaces.

The income that Mr. Ari received at the beginning of opening his business was around IDR. 50,000 to IDR. 80,000. In a day, the beverage sold as many as 10 to 15 cups. The profit that Mr. Ari gets is around IDR. 500,000 to IDR. 800,000 in a month. The shop’s customers are local residents ranging from children to adults.
