Supri Tri Wahyunita or called Mrs. Yuni (34 years old) is one of the alumni of the culinary training (baking class) organized by Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun or known as The Foundation for Inspiration of Indonesia Development (YIIM) in cooperpation with Insight Investments Management Company (INSIGHT) in the year of 2020. This program is one of the community empowerment programs that aims to improve the welfare of the community through training provided by YIIM and INSIGHT. And also this program is in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Number 1 namely end poverty.
Mrs. Yuni is a mother with two children. Her two children are currently 9 years old and 5 years old. Currently, Mrs. Yuni and her family live in a rented house measuring 2 X 1 meter in the Cempaka Putih area. Her current occupation is owner of the rice box business and clean the boarding house. Her husband current occupation is motorcycle taxi.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Mrs. Yuni was selling bottled juice at her child’s school. She was selling juice to mothers of student and students, while waiting for the schoolchildren. Every day, Mrs. Yuni sells various kinds of 500 ml bottled juices with a stock of approximately 10 and sets prices with a price range of IDR. 7,000 to IDR. 9,000. The gross income received by Mrs. Yuni in a day is IDR. 100,000 – IDR. 150,000.
However, due to the pandemic, Mrs. Yuni had to stop her selling activity for the reason of her child was no longer learning at school. Mrs. Yuni was also looking for ways to find additional income and finally she work as cleaner at the the boarding house, helped cook when someone asked her to, and also took orders for rice boxes. Fortunately at that time her husband was still working in a shop and the family’s economy was still being supported by her husband.
After a few months later, her husband was laid off from his job and he tried to find a job again. Finally after 2 weeks he got a job as an online motorcycle taxi. Even her husband had a recovery at home for almost 4 months due to an accident while he be a motorcycle taxi.
Mrs. Yuni’s current business is a rice box and rice cake business. With the assistance given by YIIM and INSIGHT, Mrs. Yuni has been running this business for 2 years. She started this business by helping her neighbour who also has catering business, until she found out how to sell independently then she started her own business.
Mrs. Yuni currently open order through friends as her customer. She promotes through WhatsApp groups and WhatsApp stories. The income earned from this business is sufficient for her daily needs and can help her husband in order to meet family needs. While Mrs. Yuni is running her business, she had problems with transportation to deliver long distance orders. However, Mrs. Yuni tried her best to get the food to the customers.
During the fasting month yesterday, Mrs. Yuni got a decent order. Like orders for iftar and Friday Barokah. In a month, her gross income is around IDR. 500,000 to IDR. 1,000,000.
During the month of Ramadan in the year of 2022, Mrs. Yuni was also involved in the Social Humanity and Religious Program held by YIIM and INSIGHT to procure iftar packages. A total of 100 iftar packages were made by Mrs. Yuni for assistance to underprivileged communities, orphans, and informal workers.
From the business that has been run by Mrs. Yuni, she hopes to open a business with her husband. She and her husband have planned to open a business. Her husband conveyed,
“We can’t go on like this. If it possible we should do business. Even though we unable to do it now, hopefully in the future we can develop our own business.”
Mrs. Yuni also expressed her hopes for YIIM and INSIGHT,
“YIIM and INSIGHT have helped me a lot. May YIIM and INSIGHT continue and progress. Always spread a lot of inspiration from YIIM and INSIGHT to all of us.”
