Rizky Anugrah (20 years) is one of the recipients of the inspiration scholarship given by Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun or known as the Foundation for Inspiration of Indonesia Development (YIIM) in cooperation with Insight Investments Management Company (INSIGHT) and the Plantation Pension Fund (DAPENBUN) in the year of 2021.

Currently Rizky is studying at LPP Yogyakarta with D3 majoring in Plantation Plant Cultivation. Rizky has also occupied the third semester with Rizky’s last cumulative rating index (GPA) in the previous semester, which was 3.23.

This young man from Medan is the second child of four siblings. His father runs a business as a furniture craftsman and his mother is a housewife. Rizky lives in a house close to the city of Medan. The majority of residents around his house are casual daily workers.

Able to Pursue Higher Education because of The Scholarship

In the year of 2020 after he graduate, Rizky enrolled to college as a medical major. Due to lack of luck, Rizky postponed college and wants to try again in the year of 2021. Family economic limitations also make him try to find scholarships to pursue higher education. Finally, Rizky found a scholarship application at the Yogyakarta Plantation Education Institute (LPP). After discussing with his parents, Rizky worked up the courage to apply for the scholarship.

“When I talked about the scholarships at LPP Yogyakarta, my parents really agreed and supported me in registering. Actually my family is a middle to lower economic family. If I am looking for a scholarship, I will help ease the family economy. When I applied for the scholarship, my parents were very excited and gave me full support.” He conveyed.

At first Rizky was very pessimistic because so many had signed up. Thanks to the prayers and blessings of both parents, Rizky got the scholarship. The whole family is very happy and proud of Rizky.

During his lectures, Rizky lived in a dorm, namely Rumah Qur’an. It started from one of his friends who had earlier stayed at the dorm offered Rizky to live in the dorm while studying in Yogyakarta. Rizky immediately registered and took part in the selection. After taking several tests, Rizky was accepted and lived in the dormitory by following a program that ran for two years.

Actively Participate in Organizations and Social Activities

During his lectures, Rizky actively participated in the Student Activity Unit (UKM) organization on campus. Rizky serves as Head of the Research and Technology (Ristek) Division in the Academic Department for one period 2022/2023. Then now Rizky served as Deputy Head of the Academic Department for one period. Previously, Rizky received many offers to serve in several campus organizations, but Rizky chose to become Deputy Chair in the Academic Department.

Apart from being in campus organizations, Rizky also registered to become the task force for Handling and Prevention of Sexual Violence (PPKS). In this registration, a selection was held from all LPP Yogyakarta students. After some time, Rizky became one of the 14 accepted students. Now Rizky is in the process of running the selection from the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemendikbud RI) by running the exam which is on the website.

Rizky, together with his campus classmates and Rumah Koran, carry out social activities such as sharing blessed Fridays and breaking fast with less fortunate siblings. Sources of funds to carry out social activities with classmates based on each ability. Meanwhile, the source of funds for carrying out social activities with friends at Rumah Qur’an is based on excess money from contributions.

Starting from a Simple Desire to Get Achievements

Rizky has an interest in research. This started from a small thing, when he was in High School he wanted to try something new. And also at the school ceremony, Rizky saw his seniors called for their achievements in participating in competitions. From this, Rizky finally wanted to feel the same way and became interested in research.

“Initially, I wanted to have something new. See the offline competition seniors being announced in front of the class at the ceremony. Seeing that makes me want the same thing. Finally, try to make my own research. Started trying it by myself, look for information to start my own research, and also ask the upperclassmen who at that time won how to do research. When it started I felt so happy. When I failed, I felt challenged to keep trying until I become obsessed. When I succeed, you become addicted to wanting to try again.” He uttered.

When Rizky tried to research, he took part in various competitions and won championships from the results of his research, namely bio termiticide (natural termite killer) and Light Fire Extinguishing Liquid (CAPAR). Starting from the provincial level to the national level, he and his team took part in the competition. Long story short, the research he carried out only reached the prototype stage due to limited funds.

Then when Rizky took his higher education, Rizky returned to carrying out his interest. Rizky and his team attended the Fatwa Conference of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) with an analysis of medical cannabis. Rizky and his team received the “best 1” award for this research.

After the MUI Fatwa conference, Rizky was invited by his two high school friends to register for the G20 conference by sending a paper on research on fire extinguishers from baby pampers and avocado peels (CAPAR DIAPERS AVOCADO) and batteries from avocado seeds (AVSEED battery). And at the same time Rizky and his campus friends sent a proposal to take part in the Student Innovation Challage (SIC), a competition for research development funding provided by the campus.

After some time, Rizky’s and the team’s proposal was selected by SIC and received funding to develop Rizky’s research with the team. And also Rizky and other teams were selected to attend the G20 conference in Bali with a research paper CAPAR (Light Liquid Fire Extinguisher).

Currently his research with his friends with CAPAR products has reached the application stage. Rizky was invited to simulate the application of CAPAR at a Correctional Institution (LAPAS). Then for SIC the product has reached the sales stage but has not yet been marketed directly. Future plans for this product will be made IPR.

After graduating from college, Rizky hopes to get a job that suits his interests, namely Research and Development (RnD) in a company. Then Rizky also wanted to continue his S1 education with a scholarship.

Rizky also expressed his hopes for YIIM, INSIGHT, and DAPENBUN:

“Thousands of thanks to donors. Rizky can finally go to college. If I didn’t get scholarships, it might be a bit difficult to study at my own expense. I am very helped from this scholarship. Thank you for giving Rizky a chance. The hope is that the donors can spread kindness to everyone and become a blessing from the sustenance given. I also hope to be like a donor who helps Rizky because it is very useful.”
