On Saturday May the sixth, 2023 the Foundation for Inspiration of Indonesia Development or known as Yayasan Inspirasi Indonesia Membangun (YIIM) in cooperation with Insight Investments Management Company (INSIGHT) assist a talented young barista named Nur Rohim Laras Setia (24 years) on her activity in the form of take part in the prestigious National Coffee Barista competition called Indonesian Barista The Championships for the 2023 year program, were located in Hall D1 of JIExpo Kemayoran, East Pademangan, Pademangan, Central Jakarta, DKI Jakarta.
This event is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) program, especially SDGs Number 4 regarding on quality education and Number 8 regarding on decent work and economic growth.
Nur Rohim Laras Setia is an accomplished a young woman from Pekanbaru, Riau who is also active in various social and professional activities. She is known as a young person who often advocates in the arts and creativity. She is also a student majoring at communication science at the Suska Riau State Islamic University, Pekanbaru. In the midst of her busy life, she also works professionally as a coffee barista at a coffee shop in Pekanbaru.
She passed to become one of the 12 participants in the 2023 Indonesian Barista Championship (IBC) representing his hometown in Pekanbaru, Riau. IBC 2023 is a prestigious national level Barista competition event held in Jakarta and held for 3 days. In the competition, the materials assessed consisted of the method of serving specialty coffee, how to mix coffee, and presentation communication. Previously, Nur Rohim took part in regional level competitions and was selected to take part in the 2023 IBC National level competition in Jakarta.
YIIM and INSIGHT provided assistance in the form of a cash donation of IDR 10,000,000 for Nur Rohim’s operational support in participating in the competition. In the IBC 2023 competition, Nur Rohim managed to reach the first stage of the top 12 participants but did not qualify for the second stage, namely the final round of the top 6, meaning that she did not win the competition. Even so, her achievement up to the national level is a matter of pride for her region of Riau, which she represents amidst the competition from competitors who have often participated in this competition.
Nur Rohim had conveyed “Even though I did not win this competition, I am very proud to be able to represent Riau to take part in the Barista competition at the national level. My competitors are seniors who have often participated in this competition before. I am very grateful to YIIM and INSIGHT for supporting me so that I can reach this level.”
Mr. Chrisbiantoro as chairman of the YIIM Management also stated “Congratulations to Nur Rohim for participating in the 2023 IBC competition in Jakarta.
