Jakarta – As one of the concrete steps in supporting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals for the category of Climate Change and Economic Growth, limited company (PT) Pertamina Training & Consulting (PTC) and the Inspirasi Indonesia Building Foundation (YIIM) held hydroponic training for the people of the Greater Jakarta area with economic criteria affected by Covid-19, the group of housewives, disabled people who do not have jobs, have dropped out of work, ex-prison residents, youth who have dropped out of school, and pre-prosperous families.
Through the Social and Environmental Responsibility scheme, PT Pertamina Training & Consulting partners with the Inspirasi Indonesia Building Foundation to empower the community to train people to achieve family economic independence through entrepreneurship. The hydroponic training was chosen as one of the social entrepreneurship trainings as one of the implementations of using narrow land for urban agriculture and as an effort to reduce carbon emissions of households and the surrounding environment.
The hydroponic training began on August 27, 2021 online for two days and was continued with a monitoring program with a total of 17 participants selected through a series of selection processes. The online hydroponic participants get planting media equipment as a form of direct practicum and are monitored continuously until the harvest period. The hydroponic plants that are sown are mustard seeds, lettuce, kale, and spinach.
As the culmination and closing of a series of hydroponic training, on Wednesday (13/10) a Hydroponic Vegetable Harvesting was held for the training participants, which was centered at the Humanitarian Power Center, Duren Sawit, which houses underprivileged communities. This activity was also accompanied by training to cook healthy chicken noodles with preservative-free based hydroponic vegetables by representatives of the hydroponic training participants guided by Sri Wahyuni as a culinary mentor of chicken noodles and continued with an evaluation of hydroponic training by Ir. Dwi Astuti Setyaningrum as the training facilitator during the mentoring activity.
The Harvest Festival was opened by Olivia Steffinda Lasut as Assistant Manager of Corporate Communication & CSR of PT Pertamina Training & Consulting. Olivia said “This Harvest Raya is part of a series of PT Pertamina Training & Consulting TJSL events which were initiated by hydroponic training, this is in line with community empowerment through the use of space for urban agriculture. We hope that with the harvest as well as training on cooking organic vegetables, we can grow entrepreneurial spirit and strengthen the family economy.”
In this series of programs, PTC and YIIM have distributed 5 installation units of hydroponic planting media and vegetable seeds to the assisted communities of the Humanitarian Power Studio. Then in the next stage, 5 installations and seeds will be distributed each to 4 other communities, namely the reading garden community of Rumpin village residents, Bogor, the community of street children assisted by the Bina Anak Pertiwi Foundation – Pasar Minggu, Yayasan Difabel Mandiri Indonesia and the community of underprivileged residents assisted by the Generation Creative House. The Future in Ciputat. And each 5 installations and vegetable seeds for 3 individual general participants outside the selected community received assistance.
So that in total there will be 40 hydroponic planting media installation assistance for 5 communities which will be handed over by PTC and YIIM as capital infrastructure assistance for growing healthy vegetables. The five communities have participated in a whole series of trainings and practices for growing hydroponic healthy vegetables.
Hydroponic method training will foster a positive and productive hobby. In the future, this hydroponic training will be implemented in a sustainable manner which will result in results that are not only completed during the planting and harvesting period, but will also begin the formation of assisted MSMEs by diversifying hydroponic processed products to hydroponic souvenirs with local market shares and e-commerce. PT Pertamina Training & Consulting together with the Inspirasi Indonesia Building Foundation will continue to monitor the development of hydroponic training in order to form a community that is independent in entrepreneurship and grows the family economy.
